The French Riviera
Nice attracts visitors from all over the world. The playground of the rich and famous. Few spots epitomise Nice or, in fact, the joie de vivre of the French Riviera in general more than the inviting Promenade des Anglais.
It is always bustling with humanity. There are tourists relaxing in the royal blue chairs lining the shore. There are locals roller blading, biking or jogging along it. Vendors sell delicious crepes along here, absolutely delicious.
Splurge on a chaise lounge, and let waiters bring you cocktails and appetizers. The pebble beach in Nice stretches for miles.
Take a double decker bus tour, the tour lasts for just over an hour stopping at 11 stops and runs all year. From Promenade des Anglais, it departs every 30 minutes in the high season and every hour in the low season.
Nice Carnival in February is the largest carnival in the world, with many floats it is quite a spectacle.
Check out the "Free Riviera Pass" while in Nice for entrance to many sights in the city. Much of the architecture in Nice is art-deco. The Mattise Museum is also located here.
The main outdoor market in Nice, Marche aux Fleurs is in the old city Vieux Nice near the water. An amazing selection of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers are available. A great place to eat for a few euros. Cheeses, breads, crepes what more could one wish for?
The old city is just magic we spend so much time here when we visit Nice but it is never enough, one of our favourite places.
There is some great shopping to be had in Nice, the most famous department store is Galeries LaFayette in the city centre. There is exciting nightlife and some amazing restaurants.

Luc Salsedo Restaurant, Nice In Nice we found this small but very nice restaurant, the foie gras was to die for and the veal was just scrumptious. Beautifully presented, tasty, good portions and fresh. The dessert French toast with cinnamon apple and toffee ice cream was like no other french toast I have ever tasted. We had dinner twice in Luc Salsedo it was fab, food divine, staff were brilliant. |
Our apartment in Nice |
Nice is one of our very favourite places in France. This lovely little apartment in a fabulous position on the Promenade des Anglais is the perfect place for us to stay for a week in this fabulous city. It is in a prime position with a terrace overlooking an amazing panoramic view of the sea, comfortable, air conditioned with wifi and a kitchenette. It is situated close to Nice Old Town. Nearby is a great supermarket and a bakery where you can buy fresh baguettes and croissants every morning and have breakfast on the terrace with those amazing views. The bus stop, outside the apartment, will take you to wonderful places, like Cannes, Antibes, Grasse, St Paul de Vence, etc for only one euro.
