San Francisco is always a favorite with tourists, partly because of the climate and the fascination of the city in general. The famous Golden Gate Bridge is always good for a photo opportunity. Homes and apartments in San Francisco are very different from other cities, many of these properties are constructed in timber and the architecture is beautiful.
The famous San Francisco Cable Cars system is great fun, some people even hang off the trolley when space is short on the inside.
Be sure you see the Crookedest Street in the world, Lombard Street. Stories over the years have said that Lombard Street is this way because of an earth quake but in fact the real reason is the street is so steep that it was designed that way to lower the speed of cars driving down it. This is a one way street down.!!!!
If you want to get out of the city for a while take a short drive over the Golden Gate Bridge to the Muir Woods. Less than an hours drive from downtown San Francisco you can marvel at the size of these ancient redwoods and it is only a few dollars to enter the park.
Fisherman’s Wharf is always a fun place to hang out. Pier 39 is where all the action is, restaurants and shops. A cable car from Union Square will take you directly to the wharf. Most ferry rides leave from here. Take a tour to Alcatraz, the prison where inmates were isolated away from the mainland.
Union Square is the most central part of the city to stay, you will be close to all transport and a short walk to shopping areas. Theatres and art galleries are in this district.
One of our favorite things to do when in San Francisco is to take a ferry to Sausalito, or you can drive over the bridge. A fishing village with restaurants and most shops overlooking the water makes it a great place to re charge your batteries after the hustle and bustle of San Francisco.
A must do while you are in this area is to drive out to Yosemite National Park. This was one of the first National Parks in the United States. The rock formations are awesome, El Capitan is not to be missed. The waterfalls are amazing and if you have the opportunity to visit the park you will be glad you did.
