Heidelberg is a very picturesque city with so much history. Heidelberg University is the oldest university in the country and is the leading edge institution for medical and science research.
There is a Heidelberg Welcome Card which you can get from the Convention and Visitors Bureau. The card will enable you to see many attractions of the city for a fraction of the cost. Some events will be free with the card. It also includes free bus and tram trips, a city guide and magazine a Combiticket (multi pass) for the funicular to the Castle and free admission to the Castle. There are also many discounts at some shops and restaurants. Be sure you have Heidelberg Castle on your list of things to see. Don’t drive up to the castle as there is no parking at the top.
